Dave entered the financial industry in 1979 as a life insurance advisor. Since then his career has evolved from providing insurance and financial planning advice to designing software tools for financial planners, investment advisors and insurance agents. His clients include many of Canada’s largest wealth management firms, banks, insurance companies and managing general agencies.

He is a co-founder of two successful financial planning technology (Fintech) startups. The first, Financial Plan Solutions LTD (FPS financial planning software), was sold to Wolters Kluwer (CCH), a leading provider of tax, accounting and audit compliance tools, in 2000. The second, Razor Logic Systems INC, (RazorPlan financial planning software), was acquired by Nest Wealth Asset Management, Canada’s largest independent digital wealth management platform, in May 2019.

As a shareholder of Nest Wealth, Dave is the Head of Research where he develops innovative new ways to help advisors create added value. Although his financial planning practice is limited today, he still actively advises Canadians on tax planning, retirement income planning, and estate planning to address wealth transfer, charitable giving, and tax minimization strategies.

Dave holds the CLU and CFP designations and is a strong advocate of professional standards and the Value of Advice that dedicated financial professionals provide to their clients.
