Dave Faulkner has been a part of the financial industry since 1979, starting his career as a life insurance advisor. Over the years, he has transitioned from providing insurance and financial planning advice to developing software tools for financial planners, investment advisors, and insurance agents. He has worked with many of Canada’s largest wealth management firms, banks, insurance companies, and managing general agencies.

As a co-founder of two successful fintech startups, Dave first created Financial Plan Solutions LTD (FPS financial planning software), which was sold to Wolters Kluwer (CCH) in 2000, a top provider of tax, accounting, and audit compliance tools. His second startup, Razor Logic Systems INC (RazorPlan financial planning software), was acquired by Nest Wealth Asset Management, Canada’s largest independent digital wealth management platform, in May 2019.

In early 2023, Dave developed an interest in how artificial intelligence (AI) could enhance personal financial advice. He dedicated himself to learning about AI and large language models (LLM). His research revealed that, by understanding a client’s financial attitudes and behaviors, it is possible to provide general financial advice at scale. With this insight, he launched his third fintech startup, VibePlan, in January 2025, to provide purpose-built AI solutions that help financial advisors save time, enhance the value of their advice, and enjoy life beyond the numbers.

Dave holds the CLU and CFP designations and is a strong advocate for professional standards, the ethical use of AI in personal finance, and the value that dedicated financial professionals bring to their clients.
